Have you ever wondered about trading in your kid for a better model? Well even though we loved every little bit of Tyler before his surgery, things here have changed. DRASTICALLY!
He still hates "going" to sleep - but what toddler doesn't? However- when he sleeps he actually sleeps. I mean rests, in a calm and peaceful state. Before his surgery he would snore, and just wiggle all over the place. Now he just stays there and sleeps. Normal yes- but not in this household for the last 2 years!
Anyways, that isn't the big change... the weird change is he has transformed into a more mellow, EASY child. Although I never thought Tyler had ADHD, I never blamed, or thought people were weird for thinking he did. Jeremy and I would take turns "chasing" Tyler... like 24/7. I am NOT exaggerating, we would barely sit down or plan certain activities, because it would only be seconds before Tyler was escaping. Deadbolts, couldn't contain... We didn't know any other way with him, so it was just "Tyler" but it's been kind of exausting.
Now, Tyler is just a regular active little guy. He still climbs up everything, tries to escape, runs around and keeps us on our toes - but there are moments of down time where we can sit and color, or play toys, or even watch a few minutes of a kids show together.
Another thing that's weird is he eats more... We knew it was normal for the first few days after recovery because he was replenishing, but it's been over 2 weeks and he's still got a great appetite (now we know he's our kid for sure- we always wondered where the small appetite had come from).
Anyways, we love Tyler no matter what, but I'm gonna go ahead and admit, I'm a lot less tired and get more done. Well a little bit more, he's still a 2 year old boy.
