Got Back Up?

So backing up your computer used to stress me out to no end! It's one of those things you always think you need to do but never get around to it, then CRY at the thought of having a computer crash!

Well a few years ago my husband sat in on this business presentation for a company named Mozy. Well this system automatically backs up all your files DAILY. It's AMAZING and you never have to worry about it. Mozy Unlimited Backup - $4.95/Month (or less if you buy a year at a time). How much would you pay to get all your files, photos and all that back?

I am FOR REAL Mozy's biggest fan cause it has SAVED me through 2 computer crashes. That's right 2! When the computer crashes you just log in and download all your files back on to another computer, or your fixed computer. It REALLY is amazing.

Anyways, I became an affiliate for them because I LOVE them that much and have no issue telling the whole world about it. For those of you who know me, SALES like this ARE NOT MY THING. I'm not hosting parties, or doing seminars or anything, just simply telling my blog readers to get this but really GET THIS! It's absolutely incredible.

Wow, my friend said it so much better

My friend decided to go private with her blog... and this is what she wrote..., so I'm retracting what I wrote earlier this week and saying this instead.....

Well, as much as we hate to do it we are going to take the plunge and make our blog private. We've waited awhile to do this to make it convenient for family & friends to get on and read or to reconnect with old friends. We by no means want to exclude or discourage anyone from reading that wants to, but just because the world is a crazy place and we have gotten a few strange comments before, we've decided to go ahead and make it private. Please leave your email address and I'll send you an invite or email me at "address here". Don't be shy...even if you are a friend of a friend we don't mind you reading, just leave your email. We'll probably make it private in the next week or two so hurry hurry! Thanks!

Going Private

By the end of the week I'm going to be going private. SO, email me your email address or post it in a comment and the shift will happen by Friday. Too many crazies out there.

Tyler on SKATES!

I'm risking sounding cheesy in this post - something I promised I would never do... But really, I love my little family and life we have together. This was a fun night...

There I won't go any further then that. Make sure to watch the last minute and 20 seconds of the video, it's the cutest part.

Tyler - the reason for blogging

So not too much out of the busy ordinary going on over here.
  • Jeremy's playing hockey for BYU keeps him busy
  • My food storage blogging keeps me busy
  • Tyler continues to get faster and smarter everyday
  • Jeremy is finishing up his school work for the semester only one more week of craziness
  • I'm working on my real estate business and Jer on his mortgage business still
  • We're getting ready for our Weiss Tech Hockey camp during the break
  • We're getting excited for Christmas! My brother and his wife and son are coming for Christmas and we're so excited because its going to the first Christmas in years and years that we have all been together.
So onto the reason for blogging.....

yes - poker chips are just like pucks
Tyler was really happy to help Jer install my curtains
My curtains- half way up, we installed the center pieces the next day and ... I still need to get matching tie thingys
The answer is: The blond and the curls come from me! ok!
This was the morning Tyler insisted on wearing his swim diaper and swim shorts together, at the same time, in the wrong order, and his hockey pj tops, while riding a truck.

Won't You Be My Neighbor????

So I have been doing some creative marketing these days- let me explain.

As most of you know, I'm a realtor. Well I'm listing my neighbors house and I am holding an Open House this Sat, Dec 6 from 10-noon. I'm doing the standard newspaper ad, but in all honesty how many 20 something year olds looking to buy a starter home are looking in the Saturday Morning paper for open house ads? That's right - next to none.

Nowadays we all look online while in our pj's.

So I decided to go about letting people a little differently this time. Hence my facebook status, posted links on facebook, and now my blog entry.

If you know of anyone who is interested in purchasing a GREAT started home in Daybreak, please tell them to contact me, come to the open house, and send them this link. http://is.gd/9Lpm or this one http://www.ksl.com.

I am actually really sad to see these neighbors leave. They have been good friends and are really great people. He is going to law school and because of it they need to relocate. If you don't know much about Daybreak, come to the open house anyways. It is the BEST place to live. I live here, so I'm not just saying that. It has great trails, a lake, a community center with a gym, incredible parks, splash pools and pools for kids and adults, and fiber optic internet- yes I'm a computer nerd. Anyways, so there you have it - my creative internet marketing - but really it's a great house, WITH AWESOME neighbors, so PLEASE tell your friends!

My Weekend from H E double HOCKEY sticks! Really Hockey!

So - Yes you can say hockey can sometimes be the root of all my problems....
Here is the summary of my weekend

Wednesday: Jeremy leaves for Arizona for his BYU hockey trip

Thursday: Calm before the storm -nothing monumental

Thursday: I very irresponsibly didn't go to bed until 2 am at which point Tyler woke up in hysterics and stayed in bed with me, tossing and turning, and kicking me until 4 am at which point I snapped put him back in his room and passed out. At 6 am he was up again for good. Sleep total=2 hours

Friday: Yoga at 9 something, then a blur of work and Tyler chasing, then hockey practice at 4:45 (my own) late from a traffic jam, then went to Jeremy's parents house to watch the BYU VS ARIZONA D1 game on the internet because I didn't want to drive all the way back up to Salt Lake and miss it. Well by the end of the 2nd period BYU was loosing 6-2, Tyler was READY for bed, so I left. I thought I would make it in time for the last few minutes and besides we were getting creamed. Well somehow, we came back scored 5 unanswered goals in the 3rd period and I missed the whole thing- got home just 2 seconds after the game ended. Oh Ya - Jeremy's sweet sweet sister, backed into our car when it was parked in their driveway - a couple scratches.

Friday Night: Tyler freak out part 2 -partly cause he is sick and partly cause he misses Jeremy
Sleep Total: 4 hours

Saturday: Rush to hockey practice at 12:45. Tyler PUKES a big fat discusting cottage cheese looking milk bottle over the entire car seat. Go to hockey practice. Get home with high hopes for a shower for me, a bath for Tyler, a laundry cycle for the car seat, and a dishwasher cycle. So what do these 4 things have in common - they all need water. What was missing in my pipes? Water!

So I would turn faucets on and water would come out for 10 seconds then it would just slow to a drip. I called a myriad of people, asked my neighbors if their water was out, and even called the city. The city said it was my own problem, not theirs since no one else had the same problem. I stink, I'm tired, I hate hockey road trips, and all I ask for is running water. Well when Jeremy finally calls me after his game he says "oh that's an easy fix -Tyler saw me turn the water to supply to the outside off last week when I shut down the sprinklers, he probably just turned the house supply off because he thinks those pipes are fun to climb" Sure enough... that was the problem. I had only been in the basement for 2 seconds with him and he somehow did that when I wasn't looking.

So anyways, last time Jeremy went out of town I enjoyed the free time and quiet- This time- not so much. I enjoy having a partner in the Tyler chasing, bedtime fighting, every day water supply parts of life.

p.s -Tyler's car seat is now clean and it only took me 45 minutes to take apart, and 45 minutes to put back together. Oh and did I mention that at hockey I got a bruise the size of a puck - and black as a puck too.

Tyler Finds His Treasure

This is really old, but I realized I never posted it....

I don't think this sequence needs many words. Nope, it's not the bottle the BABY is going for.

I promise you all, I am doing my best to keep him away from ALL soda. It's not a vendetta against Diet Coke. Despite my best efforts, being related to Weiss's ... it's inevitable.

My Son the Crazy Hockey Fan!

So in our half unfinished basement we let Tyler mess with the TV a little more then upstairs. This is him figuring out how to turn on Jeremy's old hockey DVD. He's a riot. Watch until the end.

For Kayla, Andrea, and Jess- since you either asked or harassed!

So yes- I am horrible at posting frequently on my blog. I know this. I have plenty of good reasons:

1. Tyler - containing him in his room has been somewhat of a challenge. He hates his bed, and climbs dangerously out of his crib, so we put him in there, shut the door, and hope for the best each night.

2. I've been blogging with my sister-in-law on my food storage blog, and changed the whole design of it to be cute - since apparently it wasn't cute. So that took up a lot of computer time.

3. Tyler - He loves playing outside, and computers don't work so well outside.

4. All our photos are on Jeremy's MAC in the cold, dark basement - and he complains when I mess with his computer.

5. Tyler - Every time I'm on the computer he wants me to play youtube's wheels on the bus madonna version, Elmo's song, or famous hockey hits - so it's hard to blog at the same time.

6. Lots and lots of hockey lately. I'm playing on a womens team and having so much fun (scored 2 out of the three goals in our first game and in the words of Andrea, maybe I'm not a has-been anymore, but I never was great at hockey, so I don't know if I get it). Jeremy is playing for BYU this year too, so we're at the rink a lot.

So there are my reasons.

Before I post pictures I need to share with all the moms out there. Yes, you may have babies that sleep through the night - I still don't. Yes, you may have babies that cuddle, I don't. Yes, you may have babies that took bottles before 8 months old, and stopped at 12 months, I still don't. BUT DO YOU HAVE A BABY THAT POTTY TRAINS THEMSELF AT 16 MONTHS? Sorry about the bragging, but Tyler has been going on the potty 2-3 times a day for the past 3 weeks. Loves seeing the bubbles and wiping. It's rather hilarious. He will ask to go in the mornings, but by 2 or 3 we're usually out and about and it's not happening. In a couple months I think I'll get more serious.  For more pictures, because seriously - uploading them here takes too long:

P.S.

We changed Tyler's crib to a day bed that night.

I'll be posting more of Tyler's climbing videos soon, but for now - an excerpt from a conversation I had with my sister-in-law.

Julie: So I realized I eat more when I'm stressed.
Jodi: What are you stressed about? Hockey?
Julie: No, I'm stressed because I eat too much.

Be prepared to laugh, then feel GUILTY you laughed.

Yes this is our Tyler. I've had many sleeping problems with him since he was born, but this one takes the cake.

We had put him in his crib a couple weeks ago for bed. I was in the office right next to his room and all of a sudden his cry seemed to be closer. There was no thud or major cry, just the cry was closer.

So I went into his room and there he was. Out of his crib.

So, we set up the pack and play. We figured the thing was taller than him so he wouldn't be able to escape. We shut the door and started over. This time it wasn't a closer cry, it was a violent bang on the door with a yell MUM!

So I went in his room and there he was. Climbed out of the pack and play.

We got the video camera because we were so curious as to how he was doing it. He wouldn't climb out of the crib with us in the room - So we set the camera on the changing table... and

Well - watch for yourself !

(fyi -there were no thumps like this in the previous crib escapes. I think he was just really mad and tired by now).

Excel Queen! - 3 Month Food Supply

Well, when I was in college I took a little course on excel. Little did I know I would use it over and over again, giving me the title "Excel Queen!" No seriously... hehe I have been labeled the Excel Queen (or similar title) in every one of my jobs since I graduated college. At Mercer HR, I was always doing health benefit spreadsheets. At MyFamily.com, I was in charge or spreadsheets for stats. For our Weiss Tech Hockey business, I'm constantly using excel for rosters, accounting etc. In loans and real estate, I am always helping my co-workers manage their databases. Since I have been at home more, I haven't had the need to use excel as much TILL NOW!

So we've been hearing lately, about food prices going up, shortages here and there and the big need of having extra food on hand - specifically a 3 month food supply of food you normally eat. Well, I decided it was about time, I should just get on it. Well I had a hard time figuring out how to plan what I needed to buy. My sister-in-law and I are doing a website about how to make getting your food storage EASY - So for all the people following our site, and for myself, I created the ULTIMATE spreadsheet!

The spreadsheet:
  • helps you plan what you will eat
  • tells you how much of each item, and how many packages to buy
  • helps you keep track of prices to make sure you buy items on sale
  • helps you keep track of what you have on hand vs. what you need to buy
Since not everyone is familiar with excel, I made a little youtube video tutorial too. Isn't technology fun! Click on the image to get to the post on our site that includes the spreadsheet and youtube video.

A Glorious Day

Well Tyler finally weighs enough to have a forward facing car seat. We went and got him the seat, along with a high chair. He has loved being able to see the world. Every time we drive anywhere, he sits in the back and yells over and over again : " MOM! DAD! MOM! DAD!" I guess he's just excited he can finally see us. Tyler really loves to watch Jeremy mow the lawn, and was so excited when he found this toy in our little park side. It didn't take long before he realized the kind of lawnmower Jeremy uses is much cooler, and tried pushing his around too.

I only put up a couple of Tyler's pictures here, but if you want to see more pictures of Tyler -so for his grandparents really... http://www.new.facebook.com/album.php?aid=32906&l=21490&id=503448232

How We Spend Our Summers

Every summer we run our Weiss Tech Hockey Camps. This year was our 5th year and we expanded into Bountiful, so we were at the rink a lot. Little Tyler learned how to say stick, and LOVED watching Daddy coach on the ice. He especially loved watching Mommy participate in the camp this year. Last year I opted out since I had just had Tyler and wasn't ready for that kind of physical activity. We really enjoy doing the camps. It's fun to see the kids progress, and everyone always has a great time.

Tyler waiting for us to leave. Yes he is holding a Maple Leafs stick.

Happy 4th of July

Well for 4th of July we went up to Logan to hang out with Mike and Andrea. That evening we stopped at Grandma Godfrey's house to play some cards and light a couple sparklers. We also had a good time at the pool, and the boys got to get in a round of golf. Andrea's son Cole and Tyler are so cute together. They are going to be running around together in no time. For now, Cole just looks at Tyler curiously, and occasionally grabs his face.

Tyler the Magician

So for any of you who don't know this, Jeremy is amazing at Magic Tricks. It's the one thing I found out about him after we were married that was a surprise. Anyways, he does this one trick where he pretends to sniff a quarter up his nose, makes it disappear, then snorts the quarter out his nose again. It's kind of gross because of how real it seems. He has been showing Tyler all of his magic tricks lately, and Tyler finds them fascinating.

The other day, Tyler kept insisting on grabbing something off the dresser. I couldn't figure out what he wanted. He could see the dresser top, but couldn't reach the stuff. Well anyways after I handed him many of the items, I finally lifted him over and let him grab what it was he wanted. He wanted the quarter. He picked it up, and immediately put it right up to his nose, then proceeded to snort over and over again. Just like in Daddy's magic trick. Yes, it was adorable! (I didn't get a picture, but this is what his face looked like)

Tyler Classics - Part 2

Alright, so here are the other set of Tyler classics. After this, I'll be able to just do normal blog posts of fun occasions. Now you have been caught up with the first year of Tyler's life :)
